How to participate

ISD 2026

Grazie! La sesta edizione dell’International Shiatsu Day è…

Thank you for beeing part of the sixth wave of the International Shiatsu Day

On Sunday, June 14th 2026, Shiatsu practitioners made their best in the most diverse ways and places: in squares, parks, studios, or in front of screens, strengthening our international community.

The sixth edition ofInternational Shiatsu Day has passed — and has already become a memory, a photograph of a touch, of a hand placed in a special dialogue.

This year's theme, Shiatsu Without Borderswas not just a slogan: it was the image of what actually happened. For a day — and in some locations for an entire week — our simple and meaningful gesture, a “conscious touch”, travelled without borders, speaking the same language in different places.

To each and every one of you who made it possible, we want to say just one thing: a heartfelt thank you.

The Stories We Carry With Us

Once again, there are pictures that stay with us and we want to share them with you.

Starting from Italy, in Chianciano Terme, APOS concluded its 56th National Convention precisely on June 14th; the title “HASHI, a bridge between East and West” , was a true experiential dialogue among representatives of the Japan Shiatsu College (Yujii Namikoshi and Yasutaka Kaneko), Haruhiko Masunaga of the Iokai Institute, Chris McAlister from Sweden, Alexandra Gelny from Austria, and Valter Umelesi from Italy in an unforgettable experience!

Also in Italy there was an event in Bergamo, where Gilberto Mangili organized an afternoon of free demonstrations at the headquarters of the Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired people; they come to know the world primarily through touch and can well understand what we mean by listening during a contact.

In some places in France, the ISD day was extended for a week; from June 6th to 14th, some associations — UFPST, SPS — offered "Open Doors to Shiatsu" with treatments provided to the public; one of the best ways to introduce our discipline.

Across the Channel, the British community invited everyone to "Get in touch with Shiatsu" for a whole month as proposed by the ESF (Shiatsu Without Borders Month), with experiential sessions scattered across the UK and an online meeting that connected multiple voices from various European countries.

We like to think of the wave that continued to travel across borders all the way to Athens, where someone opened their spaces precisely on ISD to offer a moment of gentle touch to those who had never tried it.

These are just a few of the many voices from this day, but this is exactly how we imagine it: not an obligation, not a strict schedule of events, but a collective gesture that each person offers in their own special way, following their own character and sensitivity, yet still part of a single wave.

Two New Things on the Site

Ahead of this 6th edition, the internationalshiatsuday.com website has also grown, and we are happy to present two new features.

The first is the Official Newsletterwhich is finally active: a simple space to stay connected with the global Shiatsu community, receive updates, learn about initiatives, and prepare for upcoming editions. If you haven't, please subscribe; it's the most direct way to make sure you don't miss important events.

The second is the ISD Directorya new section designed to connect associations, schools, and practitioners living or practicing in the same area. Through the Directory, you can register as an initiative, school, or association, and search for ISD-related entities near you: a concrete tool to find each other, organize and build a network.

A community that keeps growing

Year after year, our dedicated Shiatsu day, ISD, gains recognition and our numbers grow.

Every time someone signs up for the Directory or the newsletter, our community expands and gets stronger.

Thank you for being here!

We will meet again on Sunday, June 13, 2027, for the seventh edition!
